Uncovet Launches Personalized Flash Sales

Fab.com Competitor Utilizes Trends and Interests to Create “Style Graph”

Since 2000, Heather Lipner has been working on the web. She has conducted research on thousands of sites for upcoming trends, fashion, and blogs. Uncovet, Lipner’s newest venture brings unique fashion and home good deals to its users by trend research and personal interest tools. Let’s just say, Lipner has mastered the world of online trend research, and in turn, is sharing it with her new shoppers of Uncovet, which has now launched in beta.

L.A.-based startup, Uncovet, brings daily deals of unique and up-and-coming brands to its users. Are you an Urban Outfitters lover, a thrift shopper, or a vintage fanatic? Then Uncovet is your place to shop for the best deals on some of the coolest indie fashion apparel, accessories, and home goods. The curated marketplace balances trends with personal interest. By investigating its users through Facebook interests, and blogs, Uncovet creates a “style graph” that lays out what it thinks you would like to purchase. Similar to Fab or Gilt, Uncovet sends out a daily email stating the new deals that the site has undergo. However here’s the difference: Uncovet personalizes its emails for its user’s interests, along with the deals that they receive.

Also similar to its competitor Fab, the site connects users and discount rewards via Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. By joining “The Inner Circle” and connecting 10-40 friends onto Uncovet, users can receive  anywhere from a $15  credit to a 8% additional discount off of their already discounted designer deals. Uncovet has featured deals on brands such as Stela 9, Popomomo, and Blood is the New Black.

Lipner, the previous Creative Director of Myspace, is the founder of the venture. Her passion however, is trend research; she knows what’s next, what’s coming, and what to sell on Uncovet. “My team, we’re engrossed in it. It’s our passion; it’s our hobby. We know about the trends that happened a month ago, 2 years ago, and 3 years ago. It’s our life.”

Uncovet is seed invested by Mike Jones, the founder of Science Inc. The company is Science’s sixth startup venture with a list of digital businesses including Wittlebee and DogVacay.
